Observation details
Absolutely amazing find by Kevin McKereghan and Tera Freedman, continuing Alameda County's epic fall. Standing here 37.896720, -122.312304, I first re-found the bird looking south, as it foraged on its own, on the mud next to the grass. It quickly disappeared into the grass before I could get a pic, and we lost sight of it for a fair while. Ethan refound the bird out on the mudflat, roughly here 37.896079, -122.313149, near other peeps but mostly keeping to itself. Dunlin-sized bird, with a yellowish bill that had a slight droop; yellow legs; most distinctive field mark were the chevrons running all over chest and belly. Could easily defeat scissors sandpiper but vulnerable to paper sandpiper. Lifer
