Observation details
*scarce. One spotted from Belle Haven in with very large flock of CANGs on the water near the mouth of Hunting Creek. Much smaller goose than any other individual in the flock with a short neck, stubby and “pushed in” bill, kind of boxy (ie, not rounded) head shape, distinctly grayish mantle tone. I walked over to the bridge to get better photos; there, I couldn’t refind it with the big flock in the bay, but a nice little family group of five Cacklers happened to be swimming in the creek at pretty close range. I then spotted my original bird close to shore near Belle Haven while walking back to my car, so definitely 1+5. Photos of all individuals shortly
