Observation details
The two hawks were medium sized Red Shoulder Hawks. They had redish/brown breasts with a dark smoky black top-side on the wings, back and tail. When the tail was fanned, there were three horizontal white stripes. First, one appeared in the trees by the bird feeders and tried to swoop down on a prey in the open grass area but it failed and flew off. Later, it flew back into the same area with another Red Shoulder Hawk in chase. They were tangled together in a tree. They eventually split up and flew off in separate directions.
