Media notes

Pair of Black-naped Monarchs foraging in mango trees, vocalising intermittently and answering one another. Natural long gaps between vocalisations preserved in this clip. I believe both Pale-legged and Sakhalin Leaf Warblers can be seen and heard in the background. The separately uploaded clip of Sakhalin on this checklist was taken from the end of this recording after the Monarchs had stopped vocalising. Clip trimmed, 250Hz high pass filter applied, normalised to -3dB in Audacity.

Observation details

About as frequent as the fantails, often in the same place.

Additional species

  • Sakhalin Leaf Warbler Phylloscopus borealoides
  • Pale-legged Leaf Warbler Phylloscopus tenellipes
  • Yellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus
