Observation details

Video of continuing female in the main (east) pond. Serrations where the multi-colored mandibles meet are visible from 10 to 40 seconds from the beginning. I watched her alternate swimming in the east half of the pond with swimming and napping in the west (back) end of the pond between 1:25 and 2:08 PM. This back and forth seemed to be her routine, resting where the palms shaded the west end and then approaching the picnic area to dive, even swimming among the Mallards. At one point, a park employee along the shore accidentally flushed her from swimming, and she flew 1-3 feet above the water for about 150 feet.
