Observation details
Continuing bird discovered during the Manhattan Rarity Roundup a few weeks ago. Two individuals have been reported at this site, I only ever saw one at a time and my photographs are inconclusive as to whether there was more than one bird in play. Very active and flighty, mostly keeping to the canopies of trees near Catbird Playground, but once seen flitting across the street to the construction scaffolding opposite the park. Most often detected by sweet, slightly descending chip notes. Creeping, nuthatch-like warbler with a striking black mask and a bold white eyebrow. Rich yellow throat contrasted smartly with the otherwise monochrome, neatly patterned plumage
