Three on a match might be unlucky, but three on a feeder is fun to watch. I have over a dozen MODO and three safflower tray feeders.
Observation details
One male MODO was doing a “mate chase” on the ground, but the female avoided him. MODO mate year-round, even in winter). Another male dove flared his tail when a Robin hopped along the deck railing and approached the tray feeder. His flared tail made him look larger and the robin turned away.
