Observation details
Before sunset, robins started flying in from the east. I was on the east side of Center Lake, and they started landing on the tops of trees all around me. The sun rays of the setting sun hitting the birds bright red bellies made them look like Christmas tree ornaments. I stopped counting at 47 because I was ready to go home, but the number was much higher as they continued flying over my head. My guess is they were flying from Rose Hills Memorial Park to this location to roost for the night, a distance of 2 and a half miles.
