Observation details
Seven Ring-necked Ducks observed in Legg Lake with a Northern Shoveler joining the group late in the day. I don't know if different species of birds communicate with each other, but this male Northern Shoveler swam half way across the lake and stopped when he reached the group of Ring-necked Ducks. It was like he was asking them if he could take a nap while they keep an eye out for danger. Take a close look at the photos. I couldn't stop from laughing. Maybe he agreed to night duty later on.
