Observation details
Small, stout-bodied, long-tailed songbirds, seen feeding/propping themselves against bare tree trunks. Pale belly, with head/back/tail an array of brown tones. We heard them vocalizing while feeding. Incredible movement/concentration of this species, the best bird-in-flight moments I have ever seen of this species. At the greatest concentration we had 5 in one binocular view (simultaneously on a compact cluster of barren trees), eventually flying off almost in synch with each other, to be replaced by many more incoming, migrating Brown Creepers. It went on for at least 10 minutes. All Brown Creepers were flying, perching, and flying again in the same direction (no repeat sightings).
