Observation details
One bird I wanted to be an eastern phoebe seems to just be a juv vermillion look-alike. Small flycatcher with creamy white belly, chin/throat. Dark above, Dark (black) tail. On island of C1 pond. Slightly smaller than says/black. Pretty similar to heavy juv vermillion… no pinkish wash in belly at all… but a bit of faint yellowish. did not hear it call at all. Spent 20+ minutes chasing it, ran into a photographer who will share a photo. Did not see streaks on breast, but these can be really faint in juv vermillion. From photos it seems head on phoebe tends to be darker, more fuscous, while vermillion is lighter gray, this bird was lighter gray so I think it is a juv vermillion
