Observation details
Not entirely sure on this one as my experience with gulls is limited. The gulls being recorded at Peck recently are Western, California, and Ring-billed but this one stood out as different. I'm fairly certain it's not the latter two and the head shape doesn't seem to be that of a Western gull. Round head, pale to yellow eye w/ heavy streaking around eye as if its wearing eyeliner. Streaking to nape as well. Dark wing tips and dark back, though I think the direct sunlight on the bird is making it look lighter (maybe that's just wishful thinking). Thought it could be a Herring gull but maybe too dark? First picture is a crop of the second. Seems about the same size as what appears to be a California gull to the left front (bi-color marking on bill). Happy for input.
