Observation details
One Canada was small, compact with short neck, small rounded head, and distinctly stubby triangular bill. Cheek patch bright white but noticeably narrow and slightly pinched toward the rear, giving the face a sharp cut-in look. Head and neck uniformly black with a clean contrast into the pale breast. Upperparts medium brown with bold pale edging on the scapulars and mantle; sides and flanks pale gray with tight, even barring. Underparts clean white. Overall smaller and shorter-billed than nearby Canada Geese, with a petite, barrel-chested profile.
