Observation details
Merlin audio picked up an acorn woodpecker call, but I hadn't seen any yet. A scrub jay had caught my attention in some brush, and a few minutes later I saw an acorn woodpecker perched high in a solo eucalyptus tree pecking away. It was along the entry road just past the first ball field. A few minutes later (it) was joined by a second. They stayed together up there for at least 10 minutes and looked like they fed each other - but it was pretty high up and hard to see clearly. Unfortuantely, my cell phone camera is completely inadequate for capturing distant close-ups. Very poor images.
