Observation details
A slender, buoyant-looking Black-legged Kittiwake in flight, showing the classic streamlined, tern-like profile. The bird has long, narrow wings with a distinctive deeply bowed shape, creating a graceful, elastic flight posture typical of the species. Upperwings appear pale gray with contrasting black wingtips, forming the classic sharp “dipped-in-ink” look. Body is clean white, including the head, underparts, and tail. The flight style—light, effortless, and gliding between bouts of stiff wingbeats—helps confirm the species even at distance.
