One of the many large groups of cormorants that came in from the west
Observation details
This was a big surprise. Groups of 30-120 came in V formations mostly from the east. Counted individually in the small groups, then conservatively estimated the large groups, as several would come simultaneously across a wide area. When we did this survey in October, we only had 7 DCCO fly in with the crows. Thankfully, most of the cormorant flocks flew in before the crows really got going so we could just focus on counting the cormorants.
