Observation details

First visited nest while she was sitting. Subsequently informed that a chick had hatched 2 days prior to our visit and then saw at distant ridge shape of an Umbrella bird. Possible of the nesting female was the bird at ridge, went back to nest to try to have a look at chick. Arrived back at nest and sure enough she was not on nest, it only took minutes before she returned and witness her very carefully sat back down on nest. Would have liked to see chick activity but this was not to be, but witness her very carefully positioned herself before sitting again, and info from expert monitor, felt confident that a chick was in nest. We were informed this is the first time that a nest was located and seen with chick in Ecuador.
