Observation details
I decided to take a short morning drive close to home to look for waxwing flocks, hoping for a Bohemian to show up. The sun was still behind the mountains, but within about ten minutes of driving, I found a mixed group of robins, finches, and waxwings and noticed that one waxwing was chunkier than the rest. And there was the gem in all of its glory! It was so nice to see one again with its larger grayer body and rufous accents on the face and undertail coverts. Creamy feathers covered the vent area. Hopefully, it will be another good winter with Bohemians and all the new birders will get to enjoy them.
