Observation details
Found by Micheal Reilly this evening. Unreal views, feeding below us on the incoming tide; absolutely gorgeous. In sunshine, had a quite warm and buffy appearance, the classic walking weetabix; later in duller, flatter light looked more earthy toned. This individual was fairly long-billed, and with a fairly pronounced brownish pectoral band with fine dsrk streaking. Once sat horizontal on the ground when other waders flushed, and a couple of times crouched low, when the broad, flat body shape and long tail were apparent; latter, along with very long wings, also made it easy to pick out in flight. A bit of stress for this one. When DC messaged to alert us, we were having a pint in McDonnell's while waiting for the Chinese takeaway to be cooked! Luckily those two things were finished promptly, and the bird was still present on a rapidly diminishing area of beach.
