Observation details
Fun winter find! Best birds of the hike. First one seen flying from a view point here: 48.54320, -123.51409. Nice spot by Charity we barely got enough time with bins on it to narrow down to a TOSO, felt way more confident after we saw 4 more. Next pair were seen and photographed here: 48.54161, -123.52234. Our most prolonged viewing which would have been better if we didn’t have to fight through the wind and rain. This was the most birdy area. The last pair was getting whipped in the wind at the summit here: 48.53558, -123.52768. One of the Solitaires dove down immediately and wasn’t seen again but the other one stuck around for photos then took off into the 80km/h gusts that were hitting us head on. Just amazing such a small bird can fly in that. Assumed to be all different birds as each sighting was more than 500m apart and 1.5km between the first and last Photos to follow
