Observation details
What we thought was going to be the biggest surprise of the day. First heard a warbler chip note we were struggling to place for this time of year not quite matching somewhat similar chips or the habitat preference of Pine and Palm Warblers. Graham spotted the small, short-tailed warbler bluish gray above with yellow throat and chest with two distinct wing bars, eye arches, and a buffy-tinged breast band. Later I spotted it foraging close to ground level in weeds and tangles by the undercut bank probably miserable in the cold. Graham has photos.
