Observation details
Small, very dark, gull-ish bird with long, pointed wings. First seen loafing out on the lake but flew up several times to chase gulls where it was noticeably smaller than a Ring-billed Gull. Distinctive white patch at the base of the primaries flashed while in flight. At one point it flew up on top of the dam to chase a RBGU and was seen within 30-40 feet. Here, the middle two tail feathers were seen well. They were longer than the surrounding tail feathers feathers, and pointed, not clubbed like on a Pomarine. Lifer!
