Observation details

An astonishing show. Started around 4:15, was still very much in progress as I wrapped up. About 10 minutes in, I had estimated around 500, just based on blobs and "convenience sampling" of 1x1 counts up to 10 or 15. Then it really started to pick up. See videos and photos, below. ML646488561: The flock as it was going directly overhead, about 20 minutes into the flight. ML646488565: The flock about 25 minutes in, after the main "river of crows" had drifted south a bit. You could take the birds in this video and the preceding one and "do the math." ML646488570: Most kept flying straight over. But a few were landing in trees on the South Side. But, yeah, the vast majority were heading off in the direction of Oakland and (especially) the Hill District.
