Observation details
Dark brownish-black ducks; whitish patches at base of bill and behind eye; sloped forehead; spiky tail; slightly larger than nearby Buffleheads. No whitish patch on nape so likely immature birds. They were far out on the harbor but we were able to see diagnostic field marks in the scope.
