Observation details

Adult and younger BAEAs were feeding on what appeared to be a deer carcass on a frozen lake. Different individuals came and went, with 5 on or near the carcass at one time. I didn't see any obvious squabbling among the group. The birds vocalized several times when one flew in to land by the carcass. The photo of deer on the hill above the lake shows that one possible source of the carcass is that a deer could have fallen from the hill onto the lake. It was a very special experience to observe these birds.
