Media notes
Two individuals, one making the "erk" sound repeatedly (often hard to hear in the recording) while a second one made the longer louder calls. Also heard: Black-capped Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, Downy Woodpecker, and an annoying private airplane that sounds louder in the recording than it seemed in real life.
Observation details
Surprise find. As I stood at the road, there was one making quiet "erk" sounds to my left, while a second one was up the driveway making louder longer calls. I saw an appropriate sized bird in one of the taller large trees between me and the house, but it vanished before I could get binoculars on it on this overcast day. Recording made.
