Stranded due to sudden cold spell causing water surface to freeze. Unable to fly out. Contacted biologists who plan to attempt rescue tomorrow.

Observation details

Stranded in short runway of open water, rest of the reservoir frozen-over. Repeatedly attempted to fly out and gave up due to open water length being too short. Contacted Loon Preservation Committee, spoke with a biologist who intends to attempt rescue tomorrow. Otter(s) at reservoir, but eagles not seen this visit or last.
