Observation details
Continuing bird found yesterday evening. Seen on three separate occasions, feeding on various areas of mud, on both sides of the channel. Towards sunset, as the tide was rapidly covering the little remaining mud, the bird joined a group of roosting Redshank and then flew west, never to be seen again. Juvenile, which was slender and elegant in appearance. Slightly smaller than nearby Redshank. Very white underside, with a brown back, cap and wings. Fine bill, which appeared quite long in the field as well as the yellow legs. Very active feeding style, constantly moving its bill through the water, reminiscent of a stilt or avocet.
