Observation details
A nearly crow-sized juvenile Accipiter, watching the feeders at 9:30am. Initially I neglected to check the tail shape and assumed Cooper's because of the size. I noticed it (her) on the ground at 10:45 having lunch -- perhaps she had been present the whole time. Merlin AI flagged one of my first photos (the head detail) as a Sharp-shin. If so, this large bird is female. She fed on a Junco carcass for more than an hour. At noon I thought she had left and went outside to brush snow off my car, when she flew up to a tree and sat out in the open displaying her flat-across tail end (last photo). So Merlin was right. She was still sitting in the tree at 1:15pm when I left to run an errand.
