Observation details
Continuing rarity. Shade loving pipit. Came out late afternoon into a fairly bare ground area with short sparse grass under a stand of trees. Very tolerant to humans and dogs. Two labradoodles ran within 6ft of the bird. The pipit just walked out of their way and let them pass. About 10 other birders photographed the pipit. Olive colored. Boldly streaked on breast and boldly marked facial pattern. Dark streaks on top of head and back. Typical pipit tail pump as it foraged about. Eating moths, worms, berries and other insects. Left at sunset and bird was still foraging.
