Observation details
*Very rare. How in the world is this bird still alive?! Seen today with others at(33.8557147, -117.8046725) among the dowitchers. Fairly close to the path, excellent views in scope. Slightly smaller than the dowitchers, but behaved rather similarly. Adult female back for its 11th year out of the last 12(it was absent in 2015). Medium sized grayish shorebird with long yellow legs, white wing patches, gray overall with scalloped tertials and coverts, wings about same length as tail, relatively short, stocky neck, grayish, rounded head, strongly bicolored bill(pinkish orange base, dark outer half), white ring around base of bill. Dark eye with white eye arcs. Underparts plain grayish with some messy feathers. Photos to add
