Observation details
Photos. Small dark-mantled gull either a “Mew” Gull (possible Kamchatka Gull) or a hybrid RBGU x CAGU. Description: mantle shade darker than Ring-billed but lighter than Lesser Black-backed. Overall size quite similar to RBGU including bill, which had a sub terminal gray smudge but no red. Legs were thin and yellowish. Contrasting white tertial and scapular crescents present. Wingtip pattern appeared adult-like, with extensive black on P8-P10. Amount of sub terminal white at tip of gray tongues (as expected in Short-billed Gull) did not stand out although open wing pics did not come out very well and are difficult to interpret.
