Observation details
**rare; amazing bird for JBWR - fittingly found by park ranger Jonathan Green. After a long stakeout not attended by little gull nor black-necked stilt, the little gull appeared suddenly along the eastern edge of the pond, where it remained for the rest of our visit save for some periods of absence. It was intently focused on that quadrant of the pond, allowing us to marvel at its flight and foraging style for a good long time. We noted its fluttery, ternlike affect, but also noted that it was never seen to hover - instead, it would utilize a yellowjacket-like zigzagging motion in order to stay over a small area it was working.
