Observation details
Red-throated Loon is the 250th species recorded in eBird for Glastonbury Meadows! Looks like an immature bird. Viewing the bird from a long distance, I passed it off as a Common Loon since I'd seen an immature one on the river a week ago, and I naturally assumed this was the same bird since that was the first loon I had ever observed on the river at Glastonbury Meadows. So I took a few record photos, but did not review them in the field. Later at home I realized this was a different loon, with a much less substantial bill than a Common Loon, held in an upturned position. Much thinner necked and smaller headed than Common, and sitting relatively low in the water. (The Red-throated Loon is also the 200th species for which we have a photo taken at Glastonbury Meadows)
