Observation details

Seen once as I was being led into the sun room with my camera not yet out, then again 50 minutes later on the feeder, where it took several long drinks, staying perhaps 45 seconds. Green-backed hummingbird with rufous wash on sides of breast and a few colored gorget feathers. Adult female or immature male. On December 1st this bird apparently responded to taped playback of Rufous Hummingbird calls. It did not respond to taped Allen's Hummingbird calls. Today I observed the bird with 8X42 binoculars from inside the house perhaps six feet from the feeder and photographed it from the same location.
