Observation details
INSANE MEGA RARITY FIRST STATE RECORD GG BEN STUBBS THE GOAT. 🥐🥐🥐 Small, fluffy flycatcher, extremely similar to Dark-eyed Junco. Completely black on top, sides, tail, and wings. Dark, beady, soulful eyes. Head triangular like EAPH. Breast entirely white, giving it that junco look. Hyperactive; it was constantly bobbing like an EAPH and leaping to catch flies in the air. Scoped, binoculars-ed, photographed, and adored from across the Gooseberry River. Originally reported by Ben Stubbs (the man, the myth, the legend), we were flying when we saw this bird reported. Once in the park, we lept out of the car and became a black-phoebe-seeking missile. Down on the river, we joined the mass of people oggling the bird from across the mouth of the beautiful Gooseberry river. Many members of the Croissant Jaunt had brought scopes, so we were lucky enough to get some amazing views. Photos :)
