Observation details

Continuing rarity (late). Found by Garrett H a couple hours ago. Location 47.96244° N, 122.19236° W. I called it in by playing whinny calls. It made a couple short vocalizations, but not a full whinny or kerwee call. Sound recording trimmed using Audacity. I saw it scurry by, down low in the reeds for just a second. Then, a minute later, it jumped out of the reeds and into the shallow water for about 10 seconds before returning back into the reeds. Photos. (Hooray! I finally got photos of this bird species, which I’ve been trying to get for a while. All of my previous encounters have been heard-only.)
