Observation details
I was on the middle path, about a mile away from the parking area at Sugar Hill. In that area are some clumps of low trees and bushes on the bay side, but it is mostly dunes and grasses. The owl came from behind and veered toward the gulf before quasi-circling toward the trees. It was predominantly white underneath with broad rounded wings and a white disc face. The upper side of the owl was a soft brown color. Huge surprise! Given that surprise, I have only one photo, but I believe it is diagnostic.
