Observation details
*Rare; Continuing individual in that goose flock that bounces between Newton Cemetery, Crystal Lake, and occasionally Bullough's Pond or Newton North High School. I first arrived at the cemetery to watch the goose flock fly up, so I followed up at the lake and was able to relocate the bird amongst the Canada Geese at the official swimming area. The geese were quite confiding and I had excellent looks. Greenland subspecies seems fitting given narrow paler edging to mantle, scapulars, median coverts, and greater coverts, yellowish rather than pinkish undertones at the base of the bill, bulky neck and overall appearance, and narrow shorter white line bordering flank. Hopefully this bird flies over Cold Spring Park or sticks around until the CBC in two weeks!
