Observation details
Rarity reported. First confirmed record for the Southern Africa sub-region. A well‑camouflaged sandpiper favors short‑grass areas. Its plumage is a muted buff‑brown, with a small head, long neck, prominent eye and a yellow bill that ends in a black tip. In flight it displays a long tail and shallow, fluttery wingbeats.
