Observation details

Heard distantly at first. Responded to brief playback (at most two call sequences) from Merlin's first RBNU call (Hershberger, NY, May 1999) by coming closer and delivering an extended sequence of calls, nearly unbroken for over a minute. Sounded very indignant! Maybe there are fighting words in the sample call lol.
