Observation details

Continuing mega. Wow, this is a subtle identification! The bird was slightly paler overall and at times appeared slightly larger. These differences seemed obvious at times, and undetectable at others, depending on the angle. Overall, the bird appeared to be barely (or not) outside the range of variation of SEPL. The key differences were in the facial pattern: bolder white eyeline (for the age /class) and bolder dark check extending forward to the lores and down to the gape. I didn't get flight shots or recordings, which would be necessary if I were the only observer. Observed with many other birders.
