Acorn woodpecker either eating or storing acorns.
Observation details
Continuing. Red patch on back of head, otherwise a black and white woodpecker with a streaky chest and white eye. Best seen in the tall dead trees along the road or as they make their long flights from one set of trees to another as this species often does. They were not as vocal as the AZ populations I have encountered but they were calling from time to time. Calls mostly coming from higher up on the hill just out of sight.
