Media notes

Recorded at 0910. Repeated deep, soft, guttural, woof-like grunts from one of two adults both in full breeding plumage, standing in shallow waters. First cut best heard at 2:07 before it takes flight at 2:36 to join the second adult approx 30 metres away, some wingbeats heard. Second cut captures a single grunt from the same bird, taking flight soon after with some wingbeats heard. Stronger, nasal honking in first cut from a nearby Magpie Goose and Swamphen. Strong gusty wind at times.

Additional species

  • Magpie Goose Anseranas semipalmata
  • Australasian Swamphen Porphyrio melanotus
