Observation details
First heard calling along Willow lined canal where Sam Reitenour had recorded it yesterday. Constantly giving Song Sparrow like “chimp, chimp” call from low dense vegetation. In response to playback also gave rapid rattling “klip”call. Came into view among roots and low branches just above water. Small dark wren with very short tail, somewhat paler dull whitish throat and eyebrow, fine white speckling in wing coverts and on primaries, very dense barring in lower belly and undertail. See photos.
