Observation details
Continuing. Viewed from 32.976471, -116.582241. Two seen simultaneously and briefly together. The first was initially seen near parking area for the Marty Minshall Trail, on the east (lake) side of the highway. It soon flew west, over the highway, to the turnoff for Milk Ranch Rd. where it was fly-catching from several wooden telephone poles. It was then chased away by a second individual, whereupon the second one took up the position and behavior of the first. Meanwhile, the first took to fly-catching from a dead snag to the north (still on the west side of the highway). Unmistakable. Dark-backed with green iridescence, pink belly, gray breast and collar, red face. Large, broad wings with crow-like flight pattern.
