Observation details
5 females and 4 males on wires and bathing in canal around here: (35.4705510, -76.0744093). Annual presence around here. Females slate and black, with dark eyes and no warm tones in plumage, males similar to male Rusty Blackbird but stouter-billed and otherwise averaging ganglier/tending more towards Common Grackle in proportions, with longer tail and marginally longer-legged in gist. A bit glossier but lighting didn’t help emphasize this characteristic. Beautifully, the only Icterid we had on our short foray.
