Bird #1.
Observation details
At about 8:30 AM I first noticed a tanager-sized yellowish bird foraging in a Chinese Elm and Mimosa-type tree very close to the handball court. Lat, Lon = 34.002614, -118.398775 Binocular views revealed a dark (blackish) winged, pale-beaked tanager, fairly uniformly yellow below. The wing was uniformly darkest at/near the bend of the wing. This bird did not come out in the open and was difficult to photograph. After about 5 minutes I saw a tanager fly East from these two trees and land in a large Chinese Elm at Lat, Lon = 34.002430, -118.398324 At the 2nd location, I had a brief binocular view of a different SCTA that lacked any obvious black in the wing (I saw the left sides of both birds), so I assume this 2nd bird was a female.
