Observation details
I had excellent views of a River Warbler this morning and it was Totally unexpected! Initially, I didn't get a photo, but it was 3 m away, and I clearly saw the streaked breast and pale tipped - barred looking - undertail coverts. Also, it had a very distinct shape Locustella shape. It was in overgrown agriculture 200 m south of the Little Ruaha River near Masumbo. Shortly after losing sight of it I played the call notes of this species on the Merlin sound set and it responded by approaching and showing itself. Not very well, but enough for a few poor photos to confirm the ID.
