Observation details

Picked out of scoter flock close to shore while scoping from the tip of the jetty north. Walked down the beach for good views of it foraging (for sandcrabs?) right on the edge of the water. Robust sea duck longer than the scoters with a steeply sloped forehead and small black bill. Distinctive smile.
